Gender based violence is a challenge that women often face in their daily lives and without proper sensitization on the laws and policies that protect them, many are left to suffer in silence. ACFODE therefore implemented this project with aim of advocating for the effective implementation of GBV Policies and Laws in Uganda and create communities free from violence.

Our partnership with TROCHAIRE has provided us with an opportunity to train women councilors and women caucus groups to enhance their knowledge and understanding of the laws and policies that protect them like; Gender-Based Violence policy, its Action plan, the Domestic Violence.

Through this project, we have been able to empower women, men, religious leaders and duty bearers to take action at national and local levels by advocating for appropriate implementation of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) policy and its Action Plan. We enhanced the capacities of Gender-Based Violence advocates to lobby and advocate for GBV free communities.

We also engaged influential stakeholders at regional level namely; the Justice Law and Order Sector (JLOS) at the district level including the Criminal Investigations Department, Child and Family Protection Unit, District and Regional Police Commanders on effective implementation of the Gender-Based Violence laws and policies.
